What Is HUD?


The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development - also known as HUD - was established in 1965 to develop national policies and programs to address housing needs in the U.S. As you’ll see in the Team NuVision video, one of HUD's primary missions is to create a suitable living environment for all Americans by developing and improving the country's communities and enforcing fair housing laws HUD is working to strengthen the housing market to bolster the economy and protect consumers meet the need for quality affordable rental homes; utilize housing as a platform for improving quality of life; and build inclusive and sustainable communities free from discrimination.
